“Beware of anyone who says they are manufacturing antiques”
~Unknown
Yesterday was Labor Day and that meant going to the Burley Park Flea Market. All of us commented that we had never seen it this crowded before...
But then again, old, vintage and antique is always so popular and is definitely in right now. Look what I saw there...
I have photos of me sitting in a stroller similar to the one shown above. Gosh, does that make me an antique now?
We didn't go through the entire market because it was so crowded and we pretty much found what we were after...
Only problem is, I sat in it today to try it out and it's really comfortable on the bottom. Hmmm, I told Mr. Cottage I might be replacing this down the road and using this somewhere else...
Another suitcase to add to my collection. This will make number 4 and is the smallest of all of them. The seller had quite a collection and when I told him I was going to do the "sniff" test, he chuckled. He said he's never had anyone do that before. Just a word of advise, always sniff before buying because some smells are really hard to get rid of, especially those old musty, mildewy smells...
An old globe that Mr. Cottage said we didn't need, but I knew would look great in the right place...
An old wire basket for rolled up towels in the cottage bathroom...
Vintage children's books for the Brave Girl Art School that starts later today. This was listed on our supply list...
A cheap doily to be used for painting. This will be used as a stencil or template for some of my mixed media...
Another shutter for the cottage bathroom. Our mechanical room is also in this bathroom and I decided that louvered or slatted shutters could be used to block that area off and make the room look better. We found one at Burley Park last year and now this second one. I think one more will complete it.
So there's my catch!! And the best part is I never paid the prices that were marked. ALWAYS, ALWAYS try and bargain to get a lower price!

So fun to see your finds, Carol! I heard that kitty litter will remove that musty smell - I think maybe that crystallized kind. I have tried it with paper stuff and it definitely seemed to help. Best not to have to deal with that smell by passing on things that are musty, but just in case you find something you just have to have, then this might do the trick! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, Carol! No wonder you don't feel the NEED to go to Junk Bonanza!
