One Last Weekend Fling

When you're really happy, the birds chirp and the sun shines even on cold dark winter nights - and flowers will bloom on a barren land.

I always make a list of things I want to see and do when we're in Florida, but when I was sick a few weeks ago and knew we would be leaving shortly to go back home, I mentally made another list of what I really wanted to do and what would have to be scratched off this list.  Eight years ago we went on a boat tour around Sarasota Bay and I always wanted to go back on this tour.  Saturday we went with our good friends, Jim and Kelly.  They were kind enough to share their free passes with us and all four of us went on the LaBarge and yes, those are real palm trees on the top deck...

Mr. Cottage
It's amazing to see how much land surrounds the bay and all the keys and how there aren't too many empty lots...

We were informed that this small house is listed for over $2,000,000 and that it WILL be a tear down...

This is another smaller house with a bit of whimsy in front of it for us to enjoy.  I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind living in either one of these smaller places...

After the cruise, we ended up going to Siesta Key and to Captain Curt's Crab and Oyster BarMr. Cottage and I had never been here before and we had heard they have the best New England Clam Chowder.  Even our friends from New England have told us their chowder is the absolute best.  So no fooling around for us, we both ordered a bowl and judged for ourselves...

It was packed full of clams and everything was beyond our expectations.  YUMMY!

Tomorrow I'll share a bit of the LaBarge cruise so you can see how the rich and famous in Sarasota live.
